Even though Deborah Newton is known primarily as a designer, she sees that as only one facet of her work — she also LOVES to teach! Deborah has so much to share with knitters of all levels. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Deborah has material to inspire you in your knitting journey. She is familiar with all kinds of knitting stitches and how they are formed. Finishing is one of her favorite aspects of making knitted sweaters! Let Deborah share her tips for making finishing more effective—and pleasurable! Deborah is an expert and her book FINISHING SCHOOL was chosen as one of Amazon’s Top Ten Craft books of 2011, and the hardcover has sold out! Let HER share the best of the book with you, in a personal way!

Lace is also a personal favorite and enjoys sharing what so many knitters do not know about lace in such a simple way. Learn to identify different kinds of lace, how to read charts, and how to add texture to your lace knitting. These are all things that she can share with you.

Deborah also has fun knitting with color, and one of the easiest and most fun ways to do that is with slipped stitch patterns. On this cruise Deborah will share this exciting exercise in knitting with her students. Unlike more complex stranded or fair isle knitting, slipped stitch patterns only require one color on each row! Take gorgeous colors of yarns, even different weights of yarn, and combine them in easy-to-knit patterns that are colorful—and can be textured as well!

Deborah sees swatching as a fun way to tells the story of the sweater to come” and likes a swatch that combines patterns just for the fun of it! Let her share her enthusiasm for exploring knitted patterns and ideas in a small piece of knitted fabric. Perfect experiments for a leisurely cruise! Join Deborah Newton and build on your knitting knowledge in a relaxed and entertaining way!
